Several people have asked how we photograph our Serama chickens so here are some pictures of our “Photo Booth” and the equipment we use.
The equipment consists of a Nikon D70 camera with an 18-70mm lens, a Nikkor 80-200mm, a couple of light stands, some Rip-stop nylon, and 3 Nikon SB-800 Speedlights. The setup uses a shelving unit that you can buy at Costco, some kind of dark material for a background (I used a sheet of oak tag from Wal-Mart) and something dark for the chickens to walk on. We originally used a smoked glass top from an old coffee table but wound up putting some black plastic netting over that because the chickens felt more comfortable walking on that than directly on the glass itself. I hope that helps.
