Well, my beautiful Hershey Boy will be going to a new home tomorrow…He was up for auction at BackYardChickens.com…A GORGEOUS color, NO??? I am keeping his brother to work with this winter…he's a lighter chocolate color, but he's frizzled, and given my space limitations, one of them had to go…
I'll also be working on Blues and Barred this winter, as well as white (I have a trio of white frizzleds)…And, of course, I'll be working on my own original line of Frizzled Silkied Seramas…Blue Boy did me proud, and I've found out that the Frizzled gene works the same in the Silkieds as it does in the Smooths, giving roughly a 50/50 hatch of frizzled babies. I have a couple of Frizzled Silkied boys I'll be putting up for auction this week, so I'll post the link here when I set it up…
Here is Blue Boy…
And here are a couple of his Frizzled Silkied sons…
I have several of his Smooth Silkied sons available for adoption here…Cute as can be…I NEED more coops! God, I can't wait for this hatch to be old enough to start breeding…I truly have a sickness…or an addiction…Some say I need an Intervention…!
Hi Juliette,
wow what a beautiful boy Hershey is. the color is just beautiful. We are doing well here in Ridgeville with the 6 girls and Rufus. Ruby and Ming surprised me about 3 weeks ago with a baby chick! they both sat on the nest and both claim him/her – very sisterly they are. The chick has delighted me to no end so I must say that I am totally hooked too! I love what you are doing genetically.
hope you are doing well and that your new puppy is a delight also! Blessings, Jan
Thanks, Jan! My new puppy has not reached the “delightful” stage yet, but we’re working on it! lolo
How neat that you have a new baby to love…See, I told you my girls make good broodies!!! Now, we just have to hope it’s a little pullet!
Thanks for letting me know, it makes me smile, bigtime!
Juliette
